The Garff Executive Education Building project at the University of Utah was completed in 2018 and is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to executive education and professional development. The building was designed to provide a modern, technologically advanced learning environment for professionals, executives, and students.

One of the most notable features of the building is its commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability. The Garff Executive Education Building was designed with a focus on minimizing energy consumption and reducing its environmental impact. It features an array of energy-efficient technologies and engineering solutions that make it one of the most eco-friendly buildings on the University of Utah campus. VBFA provided energy engineering as well as commissioning services for the project.

To achieve its energy efficiency goals, the building was designed with a high-performance building envelope that minimizes heat transfer between the interior and exterior of the building. This includes the use of high-performance insulation and energy-efficient windows that reduce the building’s heating and cooling loads.
In addition, the building incorporates a number of energy-efficient HVAC systems, such as a variable refrigerant flow (VRF) heating and cooling system, that reduce energy consumption while maintaining a comfortable indoor environment for occupants. The building also features energy-efficient lighting systems, including LED lighting and daylight harvesting controls that automatically adjust the building’s lighting levels based on the amount of natural light available.
