Lake Havasu Regional Medical Center Emergency Department Expansion
Lake Havasu, AZ
Lake Havasu, AZ
The existing Havasu Regional Medical Center serves as Northwestern Arizona’s only Level III Trauma Center and plays a vital role as regional hospital, providing extensive critical services with 31 specialties across their medical staff. Due to the importance of the HRMC’s positioning, the facility aimed to decrease wait times for patients in need and maximize effective treatment, decreasing the length of stay. The HRMC is accredited by The Join Commission, Medicare-certified, and is highly collaborative as a joint venture between PHC-Lake Havasu, Inc., and community physicians. This hospital is Arizona’s first Accredited Cath Lab, recognized by the American College of Cardiology.
In accordance with the facility’s high standards and expectations, VBFA’s engineering efforts included site verification to determine the facility “as-built” conditions, modifications of existing HVAC supply air system, the addition of a new rooftop air handler unit, and the rebuild of an existing air handler. Existing plumbing and medical gas systems were removed and revised as needed to accommodate the upgraded functions of the department as domestic water systems needed to support the new floor plan changes. The VBFA engineering team carefully coordinated with the construction team to provide a “multi-phased” construction approach, allowing the existing emergency department to remain operational throughout construction.
