About the Project

This innovative, $11.5 million project includes 59,000 SF of space spread out over six buildings, including; admin offices; a chemical storage facility; vehicle storage and maintenance buildings; a fish rearing building; and a level-2 biosafety laboratory with dorms for visiting researchers.

Dark-stained polished concrete floors contrast nicely with white interior surfaces and carpeted areas offer colorful red accents. The employee cafeteria features wood-grained vinyl flooring and wood-grained cabinets while guest dorms offer a contemporary feel. With owner, design team and construction team committing fully to high-quality work, the Salt Lake Mosquito Abatement District now has a building deserving of the important work done there.

The building is designed to LEED standards; sustainable items include efficient systems, solar panels on the parking structure, and electric vehicle charging stations. Mechanical systems are also 25 percent more efficient than standard systems, with the administration building zoned to reduce energy use in unused portions of the building in winter.
