| VBFA provided the mechanical programming for this project. The Life Sciences Research Center has a construction budget of $48 million and has been programmed to be about 100,000 GSF. Programmed spaces include generic life sciences research, biocontainment research, vivarium and shared support spaces. The mechanical program addressed the USTAR Governing Authority's requirement that this project strive for LEEDs gold certification.
The program includes wet-labs and related non wet-lab support and office spaces. A vivarium will serve as the core facility in the building. A biocontainment area with ABSL3 and ABSL 3+ suites (with Select Agents) will share support spaces with, and be adjacent to, the vivarium. Formal meeting rooms, informal gathering spaces, along with general building support spaces, provide the balance of the program. |
