VBFA provided the mechanical and plumbing engineering for this new 74,000 square foot elementary school. The school focuses on science, math and aerospace and was designed with a space shuttle rising through the school called an Astro Camp.
Unique mechanical features and challenges include:
The corridors had no ceilings, necessitating designing ductwork to complement the architectural aesthetics. |
The unusual shape of the space shuttle provided challenges in designing the ductwork. |
The building's walls and ceilings are unique in that they are not straight. The challenge was to design straight piping and ductwork to fit curved spaces. |
