This heat recovery project was installed in the Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. The hospital was seventy-seven years old and had been built in six phases. The majority of the existing supply air systems were 100% outside air with 100% exhaust air. No heat recovery existed on laundry waste water.
The objective of this project was to reduce energy usage and corresponding utility costs.
The exhaust heat recovery system included nine supply air/exhaust air systems totaling 203,000 cfm heat recovery. Systems operate 5,523 hours/year at all temperatures above 85ºF and below 55ºF. Heat recovery is accomplished through a pumped glycol piping loop connecting new heat recovery coils in existing outside and exhaust air fan systems.
