VBFA worked closely with the architect on this project to make sure that the significant historical features would not be compromised during this building renovation. At the suggestion of VBFA, the second floor level was raised to provide ceiling space for mechanical ductwork and allow the ceiling to be raised in the larger spaces on the first level. The building renovation took place in several phases to allow portions of the building to remain occupied during construction. The mechanical system utilized an air cooled chiller, fan coil units, split furnace systems and packaged roof top units to provide HVAC to the occupied spaces. This approach was utilized as it provided flexibility for varying occupancy schedules, could meet the phased construction requirements, and would minimize the impact on the building aesthetics.
