Dixie Area Detention Center is a youth correctional facility designed for 80 beds. It contains day rooms, classrooms, multi-purpose areas, kitchen, booking and administrative areas. The Dixie Area Detention Center was simulated with DOE-2 to demonstrate to the owner that the proposed mechanical system would be a minimum of 25% more efficient than the ASHRAE 90.1 Energy Code. The model demonstrated how the building envelope, electrical and mechanical systems affect the energy goals and aided the designers in the final selection of these systems.
